Funk: The Piperwai Review

Funk: The Piperwai Review

Couple weeks ago on one of the first warm days in NYC, I’m chatting with a co-worker in the conference room and he abruptly stops our conversation and says, “Be right back I gotta go reapply.  I’m sweaty” (Believe me when I say, I was thrilled to hear that).  The guy is vegan so I’m thinking that he’s natural but then he tells me that he had to switch back to an aluminum-based deodorant because he sweats “too much”.

We’ve been programmed to think that sweat is bad and that we need to fight it every day like our lives depend on it.  So, we buy products that keep us dry, because “dry is good”.  Trust me when I say, natural deodorant works, you just gotta find the one that is right for you.  Personally, I barely sweat but I can understand how uncomfortable it can feel being sweaty in a suit at work, but I decided to play human guinea pig and try out Piperwai since its websites make bold claims to “absorb 1000x its weight in moisture”.  All this work, so I can make a recommendation to a co-worker.

Piperwai comes as a deodorant stick and in a little tub where you scoop out a bit of, what I can only describe as clay, rub it on your hands and rub it on your pits.  Truth be told, I am not a fan of touching my deodorant.  But after about 3 weeks of using Piperwai, I can confidently say this product is legit.  I love the fact that it smells clean so it’s gender neutral.  You’re not going to smell like a mountain spring or car freshener, or anything artificial.  Score one for Piperwai.

Score another point for delivering on keeping you dry.  Activated charcoal is a natural antiperspirant.  Pairing charcoal that with eleven herbs and spices…I mean…essential oils and you have a formula that keeps you dry and leaves none of those nasty yellow pit stains on your shirt.

Love the smell, the ingredients, love the product. Will opt for the deodorant stick instead of using my hands on my next purchase.  If you live in NYC, you can pick up a stick at GNC. Otherwise, check their site to find a store that carries the brand.
